8/4/23 – This is an original WW2 production Type 97 Japanese Naval Officer Sword. The blade is traditionally made, signed inaba kanenami kore and made in the early 1940’s. The blade spine has some light surface patina and there’s a few small spots of freckling on each side of the blade. The blade also shows signs of light buffing and polish, leaving micro-scratching throughout the surface. Very nice, distinct tempered edge. The tang has a square cut tip and is hand signed, as shown. The fittings are excellent and the washers are matching. Comes with an original scabbard that has a few minor cracks and imperfections throughout the lacquered finish, but is still complete and intact.
