6/14/23 – This is a nice example of a super rare Colt Model 1911 issued to the US Navy in 1918. Only about 1,600 of these pistols were delivered to the Navy that year. This one does not have a Navy-marked slide, which is correct for this year. There is an “S 195” marking on the right side of the tang, which we assume to be either a unit marking or Navy rack number. The barrel has no identifying markings except for a “K” under the lug. The entire gun has been nickel-plated. There is some light spotty oxidation around the muzzle (especially on the right side) and micro-scratches throughout (typical for these finishes). Fitted with a nice set of post-war yellowish-white plastic grips. Comes with a nickel-plated magazine. The bore has decent rifling, but there is minor pitting throughout.
