3/2/23 – This is a super rare Mauser Banner Luger rig from 1938 that was issued to the Swedish military. There were only 275 such examples produced, with fewer than 20 known examples. Sweden wanted to test out potentially military sidearms so some Lugers were ordered in 9mm, some in .30, as well as the P.38. It was ultimately rejected by the Swedish military for being “complicated and expensive”. These Lugers had rare features in that the barrel length is 4.75 inches but it’s chambered for 9mm Luger, as mostly all Lugers with that barrel length are chambered for .30 caliber. These pistols have strawed small parts, and the first two digits of the serial number inside the sideplate. This particular example is in excellent condition with all matching numbers. It has 98% of the original blue, with minor holster wear on the sideplate and left side of barrel. These Lugers had magazines with aluminum bases, and this one is marked ‘9m/m’ on the base. Minty bore and excellent grips. Right panel is matching numbered to the gun but left panel is mismatched. Also includes a rare and original holster with internal inkstamp. This exact pistol is featured and photoed in Sturgess’ Borchardt Luger book.
