3/31/22 – This is a very nice example of a “BNZ 41” Steyr K98 rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1941. The gun is completely matching except for the stock and the handguard which are numbered on the inside. Even the front screw on the trigger assembly is numbered and matching – the rear screw is un-numbered. The butt plate is un-numbered. The floor plate is matching, but the numbering is very faint. No visible proofs or numbers on the stock externally. Proper Nazi military acceptance proofs on the metal parts throughout. Overall, the gun has retained the majority of its finish. There are areas of yellowish discoloration (looks like a thin layer of wood lacquer) on the butt plate, floor plate / trigger assembly, and barrel bands. There is spotty wear on the barrel just in front of the receiver. Splotchy discoloration and spotty oxidation along the rest of the barrel and on the barrel bands. Significant finish loss on the floor plate / trigger assembly. Excellent stock that was likely sanded. Very nice bore with good rifling.
