04/12/2024 – This is a very nice example of a scarce NRA marked Springfield Model 1903, manufactured in 1915. This rifle comes equipped with a .22lr barrel. These NRA Sales rifles were sold by the D.C.M. only to N.R.A. members in the 1913-1916 time frame. They were issued by both Springfield Armory and Rock Island Arsenal. It has the proper “flaming bomb NRA” marking on the trigger assembly. The finish on the metal is well worn with plenty of finish loss. The barrel is marked “SA 09-16” with the Flaming bomb stamp. The bore is excellent with good grooves and is bright. The nose cap is marked .22. The rifle comes with a rear sight cover marked “P,.J. O’HARE SOUTH ORANGE, NJ” and the front sight/muzzle cover is unmarked. The chamber has been modified for a Hoffer-Thompson 22 chamber insert.
