6/26/23 – This is a nice example of an original Springfield Model 1898 Krag Carbine issued to the US military in 1899. This particular gun is the accepted Krag carbine serial range, 118,894 to 134,256. It is “US” Property marked but has no visible military cartouche on the stock – likely lightly sanded. Original saddle ring is intact. The metal parts have lost nearly all of their original finish with spotty oxidation and “attic patina” throughout. Some very minor pitting on the trigger guard. Excellent wood furniture with only minor scratches and bruises here and there. The bore has pretty good rifling with very minor pin-pricking throughout.
