9/12/19 – The M1D Garand Sniper was designed so that troops in Korea could essentially turn the Garand into a sniper rifle with a field kit, rather than needing to drill mount the scope like the M1C. This particular gun was made in 1943, then arsenal upgraded to the M1D in April of 1952 (barrel date). The rifle is likely a put-together in the M1D style and in excellent condition. The stock is unmarked but in excellent shape with no major defects. The scope has clear optics and is marked “Telescope M84” with serial 23096. While the optics are clear, there is a little moisture inside the scope – it doesn’t obstruct view but buyer may want to try removing it. Nice, original sling and cheek pad, with the pad marked ‘MRT’. Bore is shiny with strong rifling but does have minor frost throughout. Gun comes with the CMP hard case.
