3/17/22 – This is an excellent example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 issued to the US military in 1902. The right side of the stock is dated 1902 and has the proper military inspection stamp. The wrist has the proper “P” proof. The gun also comes with a period-correct 1901-dated bayonet with an original scabbard. The original wire cartridge belt loop is still intact on the scabbard. Overall, the gun is in excellent condition. There is not much actual finish loss throughout. However, there is an area of noticeable wear and oxidation on the left side of the receiver. Very minor wear around the muzzle and some spots of light oxidation on the barrel bands. Excellent stock with light scratches and handling marks here and there. Mint bore. Note: the bayonet fits snug on this gun is a little hard to get off.
