6/9/22 – This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 rifle issued to the US military in 1899. Overall, the gun is in very nice condition. There is noticeable thinning and pin-pricking on the receiver. Spotty wear on the left side plate, rear barrel band, and underside of the trigger guard. Noticeable spotty discoloration on the front barrel band. Noticeable thinning on the back half of the barrel. There is still some really nice fire bluing on the top of the bolt. The stock does have an 1899 date and military inspection stamp, but it is very faint – the stock was likely sanded. There are some spots on the left side of the butt stock where it looks like the wood finish has dulled. Comes with a nice leather sling. Shiny bore with great rifling and some areas of minor pitting here and there.
