12/14/21 – This is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand that was original made in 1944 and later re-worked after the war. Receiver dates to the summer of 1944, and barrel is dated to February of 1957. The barrel is marked ‘VAR’, indicating Danish manufacture. The finish on the rifle is original throughout with minor thinning in most areas, and wear along the gas tube. Bore has strong rifling but a little frost throughout. Muzzle reading of 2, throat reading of 1. Stock is period original and marked ‘SA’ on the left side. Also has a rack number on the right. No notable cracks or chips, just standard age and handling wear. Circle P on wrist.
