3/17/23 – This is an original WW1 production US military issued Bolo Machete by Springfield Armory. The machete has dark brown patina and natural aging wear throughout the blade, especially on the right side (the side stamped “US 31117”). This is all surface patina with the majority having no texture and being mild surface discoloration, but there are some areas with light texture which is deeper wear in the metal. The S.A. maker stamp with flaming bomb and 1912 date is still crisp and easily visible. The hand guard has some typical surface patina and the wood handle is excellent. Comes with a great condition, all original leather sheath as well. The back of the sheath is stamped “G.H.” at the top, and “Rock Island Arsenal 1912. H.E.K.” at the bottom. The original metal belt hanger is also still attached and functional.
