10/7/22 – This is an excellent condition WW2 Russian Soviet Union Cossack Sword or “Shashka”, complete with an original scabbard and rifle bayonet. The blade is very clean throughout with some mild spots of discoloration and oxidation surface wear. No deep rust or pitting and no signs of sharpening along the edge. The base of the blade / ricasso is maker stamped and 1942 dated on one side, and “M” stamped on the reverse. The hand guard / brass portion of the handle is also “M” stamped, as shown. The original leather stopper is still intact and in place. The scabbard is “M” stamped on the metal rings, and has a leather hanger attached. There’s some mild wear to the exterior of the scabbard but no major flaws or unsightly issues. Attached to the scabbard on one side is a Mosin Nagant rifle bayonet. The bayonet is serial numbered.
