12/11/23 – This is a nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 issued to the US military during WW1. It is all matching, “United States Property” marked, and has the proper flaming bomb and “Eagle Head” military acceptance proofs. The entire gun has been refinished and parkerized. There is almost no actual finish loss, but there is pin-pricking under the finish throughout. Oxidation on the hammer and trigger. Tiny chip in the bottom corner of the right grip panel. Appears to be some sort of unit marking on the bottom edge of the right grip as well. The bore has good rifling, but there is tiny pitting in the grooves.
