5/19/22 – This is a very nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 issued to the US military during WW1. The gun is all matching, is “United States Property” marked under the barrel, has a flaming bomb military proof on the left side of the frame, and a proper “Eagle Head S1” proof. It comes as a rig with a very nice 1942-dated holster. The gun itself has retained about 90% of its original high polish finish. The majority of the finish loss is splotchy discoloration along the barrel. There is also a light roll mark on the cylinder and light freckling on the grip straps. Very nice case-hardening on the hammer and trigger. Comes with nice wood grips – minor dings and bruises. The right panel is hand-numbered to match the gun. Mint bore. The cylinder is tight and the action is smooth.
