11/17/22 – This is a nice example of a Smith & Wesson .38/44 Heavy Duty revolver, manufactured in 1950’s. This one is all matching and was issued to the Pueblo Police Department, as evidenced by the Pueblo Police markings scratched into the frame under the grip panels. It has retained roughly 80% of its original high polish finish. The majority of the wear is on the back strap, but there are also areas of more minor wear on the trigger guard, around the muzzle, on the front edges of the frame, and on the high edges of the cylinder. Roll mark on the cylinder as well. Very nice case-hardening on the hammer and trigger. Comes with excellent hand-checkered Walnut grips – the right panel is numbered and mismatched. The bore has strong rifling, but there is minor freckling throughout. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth.
