2/6/23 – This is an original WW2 era German Senior Forestry Official’s Cutlass by Carl Eickhorn. The cutlass comes with an original Forestry Officer’s portepee and Letter of Authenticity by Weinand Militaria. The letter testifies that this Cutlass and blade engraving is from the Third Reich period and all original. The blade measures just under 13 inches (33cm) and is in excellent condition with two different hunting scenes, one on each side. The spine of the blade is also engraved with an oak leaf pattern. The engraving is crisp and beautiful, and the blade has very minimal surface oxidation and discoloration. Maker stamped by Eickhorn on one side. The original stopper is still intact and in place. The gold colored cross guard and hand guard are engraved as well with excellent detail. There’s some surface wear and patina but no excessive damage on the handle and clamshell hand guard. This is known as the “deluxe” configuration. The ivory grips are yellowed with age but excellent overall. One of the brass acorn fittings on the handle is loose, as shown. The portepee is in excellent, minty condition. Comes with an original scabbard with brass fittings, and a green leather hanger as shown.
