3/1/23 – This is an excellent example of a BYF 43 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1943. This one is a scarce transitional example because it is a BYF 43 in the “q” serial number block and has two later “Waffen 135” military proofs on the right side of the slide. This is also the serial block where you will see BYF 43’s and BYF 44’s with either two “Eagle 135” proofs or mixed proofs. This one is all matching and has retained about 95% of its original finish. Virtually all of the finish loss is on the front strap (where there is also some light spotty oxidation), so the profile views are minty. Fitted with excellent reddish bakelite grips. Comes with one “Eagle 359” marked Walther magazine. The bore has strong rifling, but there are areas of freckling throughout. De-cocker is functional.
