3/23/22 – This is a decent example of a rare Springfield Armory Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1915. Estimated production is about 30,000 overall, with 14,000 of those produced in 1915. This one is mostly correct, with Springfield markings on the frame, slide, barrel, barrel bushing, mainspring housing, trigger, firing pin, grip safety, disconnector, sear, firing pin stop, mag catch, safety and hammer. Slide stop isn’t marked so likely replaced. The frame is marked “United States Property”, the slide and frame have military flaming bomb proofs, and the right side of the slide has the appropriate Springfield Eagle logo. The gun has retained roughly 50% of its original finish with visible bluing loss on all major surfaces. Barrel has good rifling but some frost and pitting throughout. The grips have handling wear but no major cracks or chips. The magazine is two-tone with a lanyard ring but the finish may have been redone.
