3/22/22 – This is a scarce G Date Mauser K98 rifle from 1935 with S/42G coded receiver. The rifle is matching and original throughout, all the way down to the screws. Matching serial numbers on the stock, buttplate, bands, rear sight, full trigger assembly, follower, full bolt assembly, receiver, barrel, etc. Very good, original bluing on the receiver and barrel, with most of the finish wear on the bands and trigger group. The stock does have a clearly visible armorer’s repair, and has been sanded. Our guess is the sanding was done by a previous collector as they specifically avoided sanding the areas with inspection markings and serial numbers. It’s rough and untouched in those areas, but smooth due to the sanding otherwise. Bore has strong rifling but some frost throughout.
