6/14/24 – This is a fairly rare Astra Model 900 that was manufactured sometime in the early to mid 1930’s. The Astra 900 was a pistol developed to take advantage of a large Chinese demand for semiauto pistols with shoulder stocks, following the massive sales of the Mauser C96 in that country. There was a loophole in the international treaty accords that stocked pistols were not considered military arms, so civil war in China had a huge market for arms that this variant was able to meet. There were only ~21,000 of these pistols produced. Large ring hammer and 1000 meter tangent sight. This one is mismatched and has an import mark around the underside of the trigger guard. There is almost no actual finish loss, but the gun is covered in brown patina and minor pitting. A series of small dings at the back of the frame. Fitted with fairly worn matching-numbered wood grips. Noticeable pitting under the grips. Replaced grip screw. The bore shows pitting throughout.
