3/1/23 – This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching. It is “United States Property” marked and has “WB” inspector initials. Colt 45 Auto barrel with a small “F” under the lug. It comes as a rig with one “S” marked magazine and very nice tan leather Boyt holster with the leather lanyard still attached. The gun has retained about 97% of its original parkerized finish. The majority of the wear is on the front strap. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is light brown patina under the finish throughout and some areas of pin-pricking along both sides of the slide. Fitted with very nice period-correct reddish plastic grips. Excellent bore with strong rifling.
