2/27/24 – This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching. It is “United States Property” marked and has “WB” inspector initials. Correct “Colt 45 Auto” barrel with a large “G” under the lug. The gun has retained about 94% of its original finish with general high edge wear, some very minor thinning on the front strap, and some light surface scuffs here and there. Fitted with period-correct reddish-brown plastic grips and comes with a proper “R” marked magazine. The bore has good rifling, but there is minor frosting in the grooves.
