9/6/24 – This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching. It is “United States Property” marked and has “WB” inspector initials. High Standard barrel. The gun has retained roughly 80% of its original finish with general thinning throughout. The finish loss is most noticeable on the front strap. Minor wear around the muzzle and on the high edges. Excellent period-correct reddish plastic grips. Minty bore.
