4/3/24 – This is an excellent example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching. It is “United States Property” marked and has “WB” inspector initials. Correct “Colt 45 Auto” barrel with a “G” under the lug. It comes as a rig with 1918-dated holster and a period-correct “S” marked magazine. The gun has retained nearly all of its original finish, but there are some areas of surface oxidation, most noticeable along the slide. One spot of oxidation and minor pitting at the front left of the frame. Freckling on the front strap. Fitted with period-correct reddish-brown plastic grips. Minty bore.
