3/23/23 – This is an original Type 30 Japanese rifle bayonet from WW2. The bayonet is in Labar’s book as LB-126, Variation D. This bayonet features a blued fullered blade, contoured wood grips with two screws and washers, bird’s head pommel, straight crossguard, and ball tipped metal scabbard. This is a textbook example in very good overall condition with some honest wear and aging. The blade retains about 30% of the original bluing, with dark discoloration and surface patina mostly near the upper half of the blade. The edge shows signs of sharpening. Natural dark patina throughout the crossguard and metal hilt / pommel. The grips have no cracks or significant chips. Tokyo Arsenal inspector stamp on the pommel. The scabbard has dark patina throughout but no major dents.
