6/16/22 – This pistol has an interesting history. It is a scarce 41/42 code luger that was initially issued to the Nazi military in 1941. It has the proper “Eagle 655” military proofs. It was then likely reworked by the East German police after WW2, as evidenced by the East German sunburst marking on the left side of the frame. These are often known as “VoPo” Lugers. It is all matching, but the side plate was replaced and re-numbered. This was likely done at the police arsenal. Also at the police arsenal, the gun was refinished, given a set of post war grips, and a matching post-war magazine. It has retained about 94% of its new bluing. Most of the finish loss is on the underside of the barrel, but there is also some minor wear on the side rails and some light wear on the grip straps. A few tiny dings and scratches here and there. The bore has strong rifling with minor frosting in the grooves.
