7/29/22 – This is a 1943 WWII US Remington 1903A3 Springfield Rifle chambered in .30-06 caliber. Overall excellent condition with the correct “R” markings throughout. The stock has been sanded, treated and stamped “OG” indicating the rifle was reworked at the Ogden Arsenal. The original cartouches are still visible despite the stock being reworked. The serial number indicates the receiver is from 1943 and the barrel is dated for July 1943, meaning it is likely that the barrel and receiver were originally together and then kept together through the rework. The parkerized finish is in excellent condition, showing only minor handling wear throughout. The stock is in excellent condition with minimal handling wear throughout. Notably, a previous owner embedded a small compass into the top of the stock. It appears to have been glued in place and is flush with the wood. The bore has sharp, two groove rifling but shows minor frosting throughout.
