11/28/23 – This is an original 1940 production Luger holster with a rare, unusual maker marking and military proof stamp. The back leather is stamped “WwSu” and the waffen proof is eagle/Su19. According to Costanzo’s “World of Lugers: Proof Marks” resource book, on page 130, the “SU19” eagle proof is for a Simson contract for police holsters. The book notes this proof (and holster) is extremely rare. What’s also interesting is that despite the book citing this as a police holster, the holster is made in military style. So perhaps it’s for a special police combat unit or other military unit. The holster is in great overall condition with some scratches and scuffs near the front toe. The back leather has light surface scratches throughout, but the leather is completely intact. Normal pliability and a name written on the interior leather. All original stitching intact. An extremely rare, highly collectible example!
