5/1/24 – This is a nice example of a rare military Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver from 1858. The iron backstrap and “US” property marking indicates it was issued to the US Navy. All matching. It is in fair condition for its age, but there is “attic patina” throughout. The naval engagement scene on the cylinder is virtually entirely worn. Fitted with period-correct wood grips. The bore has good rifling for its age, but there is spotty surface oxidation and pitting throughout.
