5/21/24 – This is a very nice example of a rare, transitional Mauser Luger issued to the Nazi military in 1937. While the gun itself has the proper droop wing “Eagle 63” proofs on the right side of the receiver, the matching magazine has the stick wing “Eagle 63”. According to Hallock and de Kant (in The Mauser Parabellum, page 136), starting in the v block, the inspector proofs transitioned from droop wing to stick wing. And during the transition, you will frequently see a mixture of proofs. The x block would certainly be in that transitional range, and therefore we believe the matching magazine is correct and original to the gun. The grips are also original and matching to the gun. However, the left panel has the typical chip under the safety lever. The gun also comes as a rig with a very nice 1936-dated holster, a repro tool, and a spare “Star K” marked police magazine. The gun itself has retained about 92% of its original finish with minor muzzle and high edge wear and some tiny scratches around the chamber. Mint bore.
