2/27/23 – This is a terrific example of a rare Colt M1911 that was sent to the U.S. Navy in 1915. The slide is U.S. Navy marked and the serial number is in the correct serial range for a small batch of 400 pistols that were ordered by the U.S. Navy at that time. The pistol is correct and original with 96-97% of the beautiful, Colt blue remaining. There’s minor bluing loss on either side of the muzzle, and a little more bluing loss on the grip safety and bottom of the front strap. Otherwise, just minor surface scuffs on either side of the pistol. Correct Colt barrel with disconnect ‘P H’ marking. The bore has strong rifling but wasn’t super well cared for as there’s some frost and freckling throughout. Period wood grips with minor smoothing. Two-tone mag with lanyard ring.
