8/8/24 – This is original WWI production Imperial Luger tool. The tool is missing most of its finish, leaving it in the white, with some mild surface patina throughout. The front of the tool has a deeply struck and well defined Imperial proof stamp. The unit marking “1.7” is stamped crisply on the reverse side, and is faded and partially peened off the front side, with only the “1” visible. The practice of unit marking magazine bottoms and loading tools was required and then rescinded prior to 1914.
