4/15/22 – This is a rare and highly desirable Colt 1911 that was issued to the U.S. Navy in 1918. One of only ~1,650 sent to the Navy in 1918, and an image of the Colt archive letter is included in the photos for this listing. This pistol shipped to the Navy Yard in Brooklyn on 2/11/1918. The bluing is excellent overall but slightly difficult to rate as there is oxidation and pinpricking on the slide in several areas but minimal bluing loss. Most of the actual finish loss is on the front strap. Correct barrel with disconnect P H marking, and a terrific bore. Period wood grips with minor smoothing but no cracks or chips. Original two-tone magazine with ‘B’ on toe.
