2/18/22 – This is a rare Murate Type 22 rifle from the turn over the 20th century. These were first developed in 1889, but we couldn’t verify if this serial qualifies as an antique, as these were produced in the early years of the 1900’s. Matching numbers on receiver, barrel, trigger guard, floor plate. Bolt is mismatched. More details on the history of these rifles are found in the link below, but these were used in the Boxer Rebellion and saw limited military service until 1918. The blued finish is nice overall, but some general thinning and patina on the receiver and trigger guard. Stock has handling wear and dings but no major cracks. There are some minor surface cracks around the wrist. Sharp markings throughout, including cartouche on the stock. Bore has strong rifling but some frost and pitting throughout the grooves.
