5/4/22 – This is a very nice example of a pre-World War II K98 Mauser banner “Standard Modell” rifle from 1934. These commercial standard models were the first true K98 style Mauser rifle that was the forerunner for all later wartime production rifles. The top of the receiver ring is stamped with the “MAUSER” banner logo with the left side of the receiver marked with the “Crown over /B, G, U and N” commercial proof marks. There is a “K S/42G” on the rear sight. The bolt is mismatched with a WW2-era Nazi-marked bolt – likely refinished. Replaced follower. Overall, the gun is in excellent condition, retaining most of its high polish bluing. There are just some light scratches on the floor plate / trigger assembly. Beautiful fire blue on the bolt release. The stock is excellent with a couple of minor gouges on the left side, and there’s a wood repair on the lower handguard. Comes with a cleaning rod and excellent post-war leather sling. Minty bore.
