7/8/24 – This is a very nice example of a rare BYF 42 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It is a first-year Mauser production, where only 19,000 of these were made, making it only slightly more common than the zero series or Nazi-marked svw 45’s. All matching and has the proper “Eagle 135” military acceptance proofs throughout. It has retained about 94% of its original finish with minor wear around the muzzle, on the left side of the barrel, and on the high edges of the slide. Minor thinning on the front strap. Excellent blackish-brown bakelite grips. Comes with a period-correct “Eagle 135” proofed Mauser magazine. The bore has good rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout. De-cocker is functional.
