5/17/18 – This is a 1936 made Kriehgoff luger. This variation is known as a “36 Code” gun due to the way it is dated at the top of the receiver. According to Gibson who wrote the book on HK’s there were only 500 of this variation made and they fall in the 3900 – 4700 range. The gun is all matching serial numbers and correct original parts, except for the magazine. The magazine is Mauser made and numbered to a different gun, but correct for a WW2 luger. The excellent finish is all original with just a few spots of oxidation – showing age. It has fire blued grip screws and correct HK reddish brown grips. The back of the receiver has the traditional “thumbprint” found on original HK’s. The “ears” on the receiver show the matte interior finish with the rim being high polish. The sideplate is internally numbered to the gun and HK proofed. Essentially everything points to this as a very nice example of an original and RARE Krieghoff. The bore is shiny and fairly strong.
