8/16/23 – This is a rare model 1927 Irish Vicker’s military helmet. These helmets were made in the 1920’s by Vickers after the Irish military failed to procure surplus German M16 helmets. They were still designed after the M16 German helmet and look very similar but with some distinct differences; the liner pads are larger and the liner band is a lesser width. Also, the Irish model helmets use three copper rivets to hold the liner band in place. The helmet has a gold logo on the front that detaches fairly easily, but is original to the piece. The helmet has mild patina throughout the shell but no major damage. There is a small dent above the lug on the left side. The black paint is in great shape overall with light surface patina throughout. The interior leather liner is in good condition with normal / natural signs of aging and no major issues. The interior shell is maker stamped on the back visor with a serial number and what looks like a 1927 date stamp. Original leather chinstrap is intact and in great shape.
