3/31/23 – This is a rare 1908 First Issue DWM military Luger. There were only 25,000 1st issue examples produced, and roughly 6,000 were unit marked. This one has a particularly rare and desirable “R. M. G. A. 11. 44.” machine gun unit marking on the front strap. The first issue Lugers were the first military produced Lugers in 9mm, as this was one of the most requested changes in response to the earlier 1902 and 1906 models. The pistol is all matching and Imperial proofed. The gun correctly has no stock lug and originally had no hold-open but one was added later. It has retained roughly 85% of its original finish with most of the wear being on the left side of the frame, on the side plate, and on the side rails. Thinning and light spotty oxidation on the grip straps. Fitted with mismatched wood grips and comes with a period-correct but mismatched magazine. The bore has decent rifling, but there is minor pitting throughout.
