9/6/23 – This is a rare variation 1st model Kriegsmarine dagger with an etched blade, gold-silver colored portepee, and a hammered scabbard. The blade is etched on each side with anchors and floral patterns. Crisp detail and a few small areas of mild discoloration. Double-fullered with no signs of sharpening along the edges. One side of the blade is Eickhorn maker stamped with an oval shape, indicative of 1933-1935 production. The original felt stopper is intact, and the push-button release is functional. The hand guard and pommel have mild surface patina and handling wear. The beige handle has a tightly wrapped chord, but there are a few hairline cracks in the grip. The portepee is in great overall condition with a few small areas of fraying and rub wear on the chord, and a tight knot. Correct gold-silver colored for Kriegsmarine officers. The hammered scabbard is rare and in excellent overall condition.
