12/10/19 – This is a very nice, fully transferable MP-40 that was produced in 1940 by Steyr, the first year of service for these rifles. This is an all matching and correct sub-machine gun, and features the early, transitional flat magazine housing, which was only found on the earliest models. For those familiar with the MP-40 this is a classic C&R gun which is in all original configuration. Shoulder stock employs properly and quite tight when extended. The MP-40 was the successor to the MP-38 model. Both were intended to be compact bust fire power weapons especially suited for dismounted vehicle troops but was issued in ever increasing numbers to troops of all kinds. It is slow firing, comfortable to shoot, durable, with readily available parts. The original bluing rates at around 50+% with uniform thinning and patination of the metal parts, but no corrosion or defect. Receiver is dated to 1940 with ‘660’ maker code, referencing Steyr. Barrel is also marked ‘bnz’, which is correct for Steyr. Shiny bore with strong rifling. This weapon is fully transferable on ATF form 3 or form 4 as C&R eligible.
