8/29/22 – This is a very nice example of a rare double-date DWM Luger. The Luger was initially manufactured in 1917. It is all matching and has a “1920” government property marking on the chamber, indicating it remained in government service after WW1. This particular gun was issued to the German Navy, as evidenced by the “Crown M” Navy proofs, 1917 date on the left side of the frame, and the “O. 1179” Navy property marking on the front strap. There is also an added serial number on the right side of the slide. It has retained about 90% of its original finish. Most of the finish loss is on the front strap, where the wear is spotty. There is also minor wear on the side plate, side rails, on the chamber, and around the muzzle. areas of pin-pricking on the side plate and along the barrel. Spots of minor pitting on both grip straps. Comes with excellent un-numbered wood grips and a mismatched Navy magazine. The rifling in the bore is a bit worn with obvious pin-pricking throughout.
