10/17/22 – This is a rare CZ 46, a P.38 put-together from leftover Nazi parts and reworked by the Czechs in 1946. This one is all matching and has a Czech lion proof on the top of the barrel through the ejection port. The frame has an “Eagle 359” Nazi military proof, indicating it was made by Walther. The slide is “Eagle 88” proofed, indicating Spreewerk. There is an “asterisk” marking on the right side of the slide, which means it failed initial inspection and was sent back to the factory for repair. According to Alex Krutzek’s “The P.38 Pistol” book page 286-287, this particular gun, SN #24, is the earliest serial number ever recorded! The gun has retained virtually all of its finish with just a few very light handling marks here and there. Comes with excellent WW2-era bakelite grips and an “Eagle 135” Mauser magazine. Excellent bore with strong rifling. De-cocker is functional.
