11/7/22 – This is a rare Walther Mod P.38 sold in the commercial market during WW2. One of only 1,800 produced. This one is all matching and has the proper “Eagle N” commercial proofs. It has retained roughly 80% of its finish. The majority of the finish loss is along both sides of the slide, where there are also some areas that have been touched-up with cold blue. There is also minor muzzle wear, wear along the barrel, and some thinning and obvious brown patina on the front strap and underside of the frame. The frame has a slight plum color to it – commonly seen with these commercial guns. It comes with excellent reddish-brown bakelite grips and an “Eagle 359” proofed Walther magazine. Excellent bore with great rifling. De-cocker is functional.
