05/13/2024 – For sale is a rare Colt Banker’s Special .38 caliber revolver that was issued to the US Railway Mail Service. This handgun is in 85% condition with spots of freckling on the barrel, frame, and triggerguard. The rest of the handgun retains a nice bluing from the factory. The wood grips are in good condition with the Colt medal on the top. The bore is bright with signs of wear and has good rifling. The revolver comes with documentation from the Colt Archives for the history of the handgun. The handgun was shipped to Springfield in September of 1929. The revolver originally had “RMS PO DEPT” engraved on the back but that has been ground away. The bottom of the handgun is marked “No 3304” as noted on the archive paperwork.
