7/8/22 – This is an excellent example of a rare BYF 42 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1942. It is a first-year Mauser production, where only 19,000 of these were made, making it only slightly more common than the zero series or Nazi-marked svw 45’s. All matching and has the proper “Eagle 135” military acceptance proofs throughout. It has retained about 94% of its original finish. Most of the finish loss is on the front strap, but there is also minor wear on the high edges of the slide and around the muzzle. Minor wear in the ejection port. Comes with excellent bakelite grips and a period-correct “Eagle 135” marked Mauser magazine. The bore has good rifling with spotty freckling throughout. De-cocker is functional.
