7/12/21 – This is an excellent example of a rare all-phosphate Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. It is all matching and has the proper “Waffen 135” military proofs. These all-phosphate byf 44 guns are rare as only about 2,000 were made. The phosphate finish makes it difficult to rate, but we estimate it has retained about 90% of its original finish. There is minor thinning on the front strap, minor wear on the high edges of the slide, and minor wear on the barrel through the ejection port. There is spotty oxidation throughout (typical for phosphate finishes). Comes with excellent grips and a period-correct magazine. The bore is minty. De-cocker is functional. There is thick grease in the internals – the gun would benefit from a good cleaning.
