11/28/23 – This is an original, WW1-era Luger that was initially made for the commercial market but was diverted to the German military just in time for WW1. There are German imperial proofs on the left side of the slide and no stock lug on the back strap. The gun is all matching. It comes with an unnumbered wood-bottom magazine. The grips are excellent and matching. There is very little actual finish loss – the gun has retained about 97% of its bluing. However, there is pin-pricking on the metal parts throughout, most noticeable on the barrel. There are areas of minor pitting on the barrel and on both straps. An area of wear on the front strap and spotty wear at the bottom of the back strap. There are also a few small spots of wear on the barrel. There are very small dots of oxidation on the gun here and there, most noticeable on the right side of the frame. The bore has decent rifling, but there is minor pitting throughout. Because of the pin-pricking, pitting in the bore, and the slightly dull appearance of the bluing, we are led to believe it was stored somewhere around salt water.
