7/17/23 – This is an original, rare variation 1944 hard shell P.38 holster. The holster is rare not only for the date (most 1944 holsters were soft shell style), but also because of the WaA77 proof stamp, which is a military proof out of Poland. The thin and pliable leather is another telltale characteristic of these Polish made holsters, as many speculate these were made under slave labor. The back of the holster is waffen proof stamped, and stamped with a “4” within a circle. This style of date stamp is found on other “ndk” made examples. The leather is soft and pliable but completely intact with normal use wear. The stitching is all original except for the upper portion of the right belt loop – this is replaced stitching. Great condition and a rare example!
