7/16/24 – This is a very nice example of a Mauser Luger issued to the Kriegsmarine in 1940. The gun is all matching, has the proper “Eagle 655” military acceptance proofs on the right side of the slide, and has a “N 4051” Navy property marking on the back strap. The gun also comes with a mismatched but correct Navy property-marked magazine. The barrel has an asterisk marking – the meaning is largely unknown to collectors. It has retained about 93% of its finish. Most of the finish loss is thinning on the grip straps, so the profile views are excellent. Also on the straps is some spotty oxidation. There are hints of wear on the side plate and very front edges of the side rails. Very minor wear around the muzzle. There is what looks like a GI number lightly scratched into the frame under the right grip panel. Comes with nice matching-numbered grips – small chip in the left grip. The bore has good rifling but there is spotty freckling throughout.
